When playing power chords, I have become extremely efficient using my ring finger to barre both the 5th and it's octave. I really need to break this habit and use my pinky for the octave. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can break this bad habit?

Thanks

Hey Reolsution.xh,

If you want to change the habit, you just need to force yourself to do it the new way repeatedly. Although, I wouldn't say what you're describing is actually a bad habit. It's just another way of fretting power chords. There are a few ways to do it, and getting good at all of them will give you the most flexibility.

But, repetition will help you change a habit. Over and over and over, slow and deliberate.

-Carl.
