Ok so i have been trying to learn how to play If Every Rose has its thorn. But i have a issue with the g cord also the cadd9 cord. My issue is my pinky. I just cant use i always need to turn my hand that makes me mute other strings. So is it ok to play the easy way that works for me with out the pinky or is that not a good thing.
Is this ok
Hi Jason323,
Getting your pinky to do what it should be doing on the guitar can be tough! This is normal. I do encourage you to work with your pinky when you can because it will only make your playing that much better.
But if you are struggling quite a bit, then it's always okay to play the simpler version.
Jason,
I taught myself how to play guitar about 15 years ago and because I did not know any better I picked up some really bad habbits. Now I'm here on Guitar tricks trying to learn everything the correct way. Learning everything correctly now will save you lots of time and headaches down the road. Trust me. Take your time and practice every day until your pinkey does what you tell it. Good Luck! I know you can do it!

Hey Jason323,
It depends on what voicing you are actually using for G Major and Cadd9. If you're using this...
|-----3-----3-----|[br]|-----3-----3-----|[br]|-----0-----0-----|[br]|-----0-----2-----|[br]|-----2-----3-----|[br]|-----3-----x-----|
...then your ring and pinky would be planted the whole time on the B and High E strings and sort of reinforcing each other in their grip.

Yep its the E that is getting me. To make the other strings work it makes my pinky go all crazy so i get a buzz sound lol.
