Hi there,

I need some help.

I have been playing acoustic guitar for a couple of years and a month ago joined the GT. I am enjoying myself and learning conciedarably and am glad that I joined.

I would like to play guitar as a solo lead, without singing. I would appreciate if anyone could provide me with any suggestions of appropriate song arrangement for my solo playing.

Thank you.

Sachin

I encourage you to work through the Acoustic course by Anders. In the later sections it will show you the ideas & skills required to play solo arrangements with skills like Travis picking.

What you are describing is essentially classical style guitar. I have a lot of classical guitar tutorials from simple to advanced all listed here.

Solo guitar arrangements for jazz, blues or pop are often called chord melody. I have some of those types of tutorials listed at the bottom of this page.

Anders does a great job of showing how this works in a ragtime style setting.

And some Robert Johnson blues.

On the simpler side is his arrangement of this pop song.

Tom does a great job with these tunes. The first one is a favorite of mine! Doc Watson's 'Deep River Blues'.

And he applies it to some Robert Johnson blues songs!

And Muddy Waters.

Here are some Chet Atkins style arrangements. Also require some practice & skill. :) But great tunes & a great place to start with chord melody.

Hope that helps!

Thank you Christopher for giving me such indepth information. I will go through all the lessons you have mentioned.

I will also stick with Anders's acoustic lessons and build my skills first. I agree with your suggestions to follow through with the acoustic course and the accompanying songs.

Thanks again.

Sachin
