I already know how to play Barre Chords. But, for some reason it doesn't sound natural on my guitar. Like only one or two strings can be heard when I play a Barre Chord. How do I fix that?

Hi there,

Barre chords can be tough especially if you're new to guitar. If it doesn't sound like it should, it's most likely in your fingers. Make sure you're holding all of the right notes down on the fretboard.

There's a great lesson on how to break up the barre chord to play it a bit easier right here: https://www.guitartricks.com/lesson.php?input=27963

Hopefully that helps you out!

Hi Fiery,

What do you mean by it not sounding natural? Can you try to describe what is happening, or even upload a video to YouTube so we can diagnose?

-Carl.

On a couple of my guitars I have to shift my barr finger further out bescause I have long skinny fingers the joint tends to come right where the string is.

I have tried rolling my finger more but then get a problem with another string. so I just push my finger up towards the top of the guitar more.

it only happens on realy narrow necks. on wider necks no problem.

Thanks for giving me the link! I actually only looked at it just recently. It really helped. Right now, I can here at least five of the strings. I used to only hear one or two strings.

Thanks bbriant! This really helped. The first string no longer sounds plunky but, the second string still sounds plunky.
