A lot of drummers also practice doing this sort of thing, switching hands and feet. Although this doesn't necessarily change much about the actual sounds or end results.
And of course, there's every pianist who is pretty much expected to play the same with both hands.
If you're able to do it, to accomodate your injury, that's great! I think I know a guy who plays right-handed guitars left-handed, and he's also a highly-skilled drummer.
Hard enough for most of us to just play a single way! :)
