So I've learnt.... A,C,D,E,G, Am, Dm, Em & most of the permutations of changes between them. As I move on I find F, B, etc. Is it OK just to start learning these new chords but only learn new chord changes (e.g. A>F) if I need them for a song? I'm really keen to get to power chords so losing the will on the stuff in between....

Sure, just keep working on them a little at a time as you progress through the course. And of course when they become necessary for songs you want to play. Best of success!
