I just found out that my other guitarist in my band is getting a stack amp so i need to shop around for a stack. I'm looking at tube amps and i know Marshall and Mesa are the best from what ive heard. Now i need help in deciding between the two. I mainly play metal but also play blues and rock. Im looking at the Marshall jcm800 and the mesa Triple Rectifire or however you spell it. Which one has better tone? Which one is the best for the price? Thanx for your help.

I would go out and shop and play around with some but i live in a very small populated area and theres no where to shop here or in the surrounding areas for this type of thing.

Which is better, Pepsi or Coke? Very much a matter or personal taste isn't it, same with amps, you are asking for people's opinions that may or may not coincide with you own taste, if you can't make a trip to test drive a couple amps, then you're at the mercy of someone else's opinion, and you need to take into account that it might not be an informed opinion or one based on any experience........ of course that's just my opinion.....................

thats just the thing i live 2 hours away from a place that "might" have a Mesa i know they have Marshall, but i live with my grandparents and you know how that goes theres hardly any possibility that theyd drive me 2 hours away to go try an amp i dont have the money for yet. im gonna work and save up for it though it will just take a few months.

I vote for Ampeg myself. Either a VT-22 or a VT-40, depending on what style you play mostly. BTW, what kind of music do you play?
