The link to the old GT collaboration is -

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Guitartricks/

If some peeps want to do another collaboration, I'll open up membership there again, but as you can see nothing has happened there for a long time.

Basically what happened was that James, Educatedfilm, and I were going to do a collab song. I was making the backing track, James was soloing, and Ed was supposed to do vocals. I got the backing track done, and James turned over an awesome solo (he's got some skills), but the whole thing fizzled when Ed said he didn't want to do vocals anymore.

I haven't really seen him around here ever since. Maybe he went to join the jihad or something . . . who knows . . .

Hey Christoph, do you still have the sound file for that? I'd love to hear it!

Maybe we could do another thing like this!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Yeah, I still have the backing track. I never got around to mixing in James' solo, because the recording quality was awful. (it was really a great solo though)

If you want to fire up the collab thing again, I'll have to look back into the Yahoo groups. I know they changed how they work and stuff.

Yeah, I just came across this thread while searching for inactive moderators.

I'm not really interested in contributing until I get high-speed internet at home. Even then, I'm not nearly good enough to contribute anything better than 80% of the posters here, but I'd be willing to give it a go.

Could I give the tracks a listen (even if the solo is poor sound quality)? If the whole deal is under 1 meg, you can e-mail it to me, or else if you could post it on the web somewhere that would be great. I'm just interested and curious as to what style it was in, how the song sounded, and to see how it all worked out.

My e-mail address is: iamthe_eggmanREMOVETHISTEXT@hotmail.com

That would be funny if my e-mail address really did contain "REMOVETHISTEXT" or "NOSPAM" in it....
... and that's all I have to say about that.

The whole thing was a sort of industrial/rock track. It had a slow bridge with synth and sitar. I never mixed the other parts, so it's just a backing track.

In order to fit under one meg it would have to be super crappy quality. Encoded at 128 it's over 4. I'll see about uploading it somewhere.

Oh, you mean kind of like the new Metallica sound, I get it...

OK, I'm just kidding.

Well, if you don't end up uploading it, by mid-October I'll be able to ditch this dumb hotmail address that I've had for the past 6 years and get a real e-mail address that'll be able to handle over 2 MB. So don't worry too much about uploading it, unless it's easy for you to do.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
