Hello,

I'm an absolute begineer and I have currently completed chapter 4 in fundamentals 1. I've seen at the bottom of chapter 4 that there are recommended songs to learn.

My questions are:

When do you fit these in? Along side chapter 5 or learn a couple of songs first?

Also, are there any other songs people have learnt at this stage?

With fingerpicking.. When is the right time to start learning? After fundamentals 1 or 2 or now?

Thank you :)

Hi,

I would say the decision is entirely up to you. Learning anything over the internet requires the ability to self access and decide when to move on. There is no right or wrong answer. I am currently at the same stage in the fundamentals as yourself and have decided to learn a couple of the the recommended made easy songs that have happened to pique my interest but feel no obligation to do so. The songs learnt in the 5 Chord Power pack provide a pretty solid foundation and the additional songs are not going anywhere, so there is no harm in moving on if you want to .

As for when to learn fingerpicking, I presonally am just following the flow of the fundamentals lessons as to not get overwhelmed. But yet again there is no right or wrong answer. If the music that has inspired you to learn guitar is heavy on fingerpicking there is no reason why you couldn't look at some of the lessons with those techniques and dip your toe in.

Hope this helps a little.

Best of luck!

Hello mate,

Thank you for your response and your advice, I will finish fund. 1 at least before I move on to fingerpicking after you've said that as it might get too overwhelminng.

Good luck with your journey and thanks again.

Cheers,

Dwayne.
