Hello ! We`ve all been there . Here`s a few things that can help:
1) Until the calluses form, which usually takes several weeks, limit practice time to about 1 hour per day. If if gets really uncomfortable, take a break for a day or two.
2) To help make the process easier, if you haven`t done so already, when your guitar shop is open, have the action (space between the strings and the frets) lowered and put the lightest guage of strings that the instrument will accomadate. That will make a big difference!
3) Finger and wrist strength will take time. Just practice consistently and it will come.
Good luck !
