Been a drummer since I was ten, just turned 68 and starting a new adventure. Bit hard on the fingers at the moment.

Welcome!

At least you will definitely have the tempo and groove spot on (and lots of other useful stuff such as knowing how to play with others, etc)! So not a full rookie.

Try icing your fingers down after practice sessions. It helped me.
