Hey all,

So i'm on Acoustics basics chapter 4 and learning the percussive snare sound. I'm trying to figure out if i'm supposed to be getting the sound out all the strings or not. So far the only string i can get to sound without feeling like i'm assulting the strings is the low E.

Does anyone know if this is what Mr Mouridsen is doing too ore is he actually getting snare sounds from all the strings?

Thanks

He actually plucs the chord and then taps down all his fingers in the same shape back on the strings but if that is to dificult then do like lots of other players do ( also me ) and just slap your flat handpalm on the strings, the sound is about the same and even more percusive.

Hey alextb1995,

Thanks for asking this question. I have been struggling with this issue myself. I have tried the flat handpalm slap per hsnoeckx, but I have trouble getting back to my chord plucking position. I guess I need to mess around with both techniques a bit more to figure out which will be my "go to." For what it's worth, I've had some success with my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fingers if I focus on keeping them close together (i.e., touching) and then slapping on the fleshier parts of these fingertips (i.e., lower than where you would fret a chord if it were on your fretting hand) as I come down. Good luck!
