You got a sitar? Cool. I wish I could help you, a sitar is one of the items on my "got to get this someday" list.
Anyway, I've been to a bunch of sites that sell instructional videos.
One thing I know is that Eastern musical instruments work by using quarter steps, not half steps. I dont know if this is the case with a sitar, but if it is, dont try tuning it to your guitar or a piano or anything. It'll be tuned wrong then.

I would just do a search on google.com for "sitar tuning", I bet you'll find a LOT of information that way.

Someone (Polera?) mentioned that Sitars are tuned to quarter steps, I've heard that Ronnie Le Tekro (guitarist from Finnish Rock/neoclassical band TNT) has a guitar with 1/4 steps too. Cool huh?!
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Yeah, that was me.
Quarter steps on a guitar, interesting. It'd be really hard to finger the high frets.

thanks all, yeah i just worked out Lords of Karma on it, lol Its quite fun but the finger picks that come with it make the ends of your fingers go numb!
The tuning pegs are a bit loose Im gona have to fit them in properly.
