Hello, I'm new here and I started playing again after 15 years, so I know some basic and chords etc. but now I wanna learn properly, than in my teenage years 🙂

But main thing that bothers me most, is that my pinky doesnt listen at all, mainly in spider walk excercise.

How do you train it? [br]As you can see on picture, thats my pinky when i do spider, it gets this far everytime

thanks in advance and sorry if there is the same topic here

1. Use it.

2. Persist

3. Time

It'll come together if you action the first two, and adjust expectation to accord with reality in regards to the third.

From that initial post, you appear to understand "English" well enough to write using contractions correctly such as "I'm".

Keep trying, working on using all 4 fingers for the spider exercise as instructed in the tutorial.

[br]Do warmup stretching exercises as instructed in the tutorial.

Over time, your flexibility and coordination will improve. You'll start to use your pinky for fretting chords and notes, and playing scales too when you get there, all of which will contribute to ever improving flexibility and motor skill.

With time, determination and repetition, your fingers including that recalcitrant pinky will co-operate. Most people find the stretch to span and the co-ordination required for spider exercise difficult initially. Persistence will pay off. The day will come when you'll wonder what it was you ever considered even difficult about it. That's the idea.

Hey & welcome to GT!

The pinky is commonly the weakest & least dexterous. The advice manxcat gave you is absolutely correct: use it! Start getting it into the act as soon as possible. The only way to get better at any manual dexterity is repetitious practice until it becomes second nature.

I have a couple of tutorials that can help build finger strength & dexterity, in particular focusing on the pinky, but can apply to all fingers. These are not necessary, but I've used them for years to help students with this exact problem.

Hope that helps! Best of success with it!

I am currently working on the spider exercise as well.

When I was just practising with the first 3 fingers as Lisa recommends initially I had a similar problem to you.

I decided to try adding the pinky to the exercise to try and train that along with the others and it seems to be working.

The other problem I found was keeping the other fingers fairly close together and near the fretboard, which Lisa said might be a problem. That seems to be coming together as well now.

I plan on practicing that exercise about 30 mins each day for a week before doing next lesson so hopefully I should have it reasonably down, ready for next steps.

Stick with it 😊
