Hi

i am 74 and just started learning to play about three weeks ago. I am working my way through the beginners program but am finding i am very frustrated trying to get the notes cleanly. Is there a trick or am I just too old and have fat fingers?

Hello and welcome!

Don't worry, it is complicated for everyone. You need to press the strings not too lightly (it mutes the note) but not to strongly (hurts, handicaps for speed and shifts the tone pitch), close to the lower fret (but not on top). Try having your hand as relaxed as possible and don't rush.

Just practicing (at first even try one string at a time, moving your finger slightly until you hear the note ringing clearly) you will get the nick of it.

Cheers,

Hi and welcome willsbob

there are many of us starting later in life. Practice and patience will be your friends.

Best of luck with it.
