Pickup replacement/combo ideas?

hey guys i got a mexistrat (yea yea its funny but i gotta deal with it) and i gotta get rid of these beaner pickups. they hum way too much and have ****ty range. im lookin for a indie/emo/punk feel so tone needs to be pretty big.

now my question, how should i upgrade the pickups? should i get ALL new pickups, and if so should i get the same exact pickup for all 3 positions. i've been looking at alot of the duncans and im liking the SHR-1 hot rails to get a humbuckling feel out of em. please help me out any and all info greatly appreciated.

You will need a higher-output pickup for the bridge position in order to keep the sound balanced. There is much less string movement next to the bridge, so using the same pickups in all positions would mean the bridge pu would not be loud enough.

You can get Identical pick-ups for all positions if you like, and you can solve the output problem by changing the hight of the pick-up from the guitar body (the bridge would be the highest), A lot of people do this.

Other people prefer to get different pickups for each position, so it's up to you and your taste in pickups.

Actualy, if I had a strat I'd like to stay with single coils. You'll change it's straty sound if you get humbuckers. I've never played a hot rail before, but it's a compact sized humbucker and probably your guitar won't sound like a strat with one of these.

anyways, I've liked humbuckers, ever since i've gotten my les paul (gibson). If you want humbuckers though, be prepared to do some work!

Try the Dimarzio SD-1, for high output stuff.
