RIght, recently joined after messing about for a year or so. MY dream was to be a rock god initially and bought a nice Ibanez gio to accomplish the dream.Mucho moaning from the Missis about the noise so tried to play unplugged.Even I have to admit an unplugged electric has an annoying tinny sound, and despite my theory that a slim neck would assist my little hands to play I couldn't get a clean chord she still moaned.

so after a bit of research and asking in a proper music shop it was suggested a classical guitar would help. The day before lockdown I traded (apparently two guitars are the limit in the house at any one time) the Pacifica for a classical guitar.Result, the better half likes the sound,I can now get the chords without muting the strings, and I can strum quietly without disturbing the telly in the other room.

Now unfortunately the lovely Lisa has thrown a spanner in the works, I am halfway through learning the simple songs and Lisa has introduced the pick, this has had the unfortunate effect of turning the volume up to eleven on the guitar.there seems no way to pick quietly without moving to the shed.seeing as we've been married for 38 years And she's putting up with the new additions to the house feel I should tread gently.

Any suggestion gratefully received, as I have promised myself a steel stringed acoustic next year if I can make enough progress and I don't want to be wearing it!

I've never played a classical guitar, but when I want a softer sound on an acoustic I use a .60 or lighter nylon. They are pretty soft and mellow.

And of course there is pressure.

Good luck

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!
