I'm working through the lessons on Major Scales in Fundemntals 2.

Do I need to memomrize every open scale before I proceed? The grid is easy enough to memorize but I;m fiding it really hard to memorize all the open Major scales, I feel like ill never be moving on at this pace...

No it isnt necessary to memorize all, just practice some time and then move on.

As j.vjplus said, not required BUT you do want to continue to practice them. So, while you can move forward, do not leave them behind.

Back when I started (a long time ago) learning scales, I found my favorites and left others I didn't prefer behind. I handicapped myself after a time because I didn't grow my skills, I replaced what I learned with stuff I preferred. Dumb mistaked.

Build and expand but make sure that you are circling back to stuff you've learned before.
