I've worked through the first three chapters of Fundamentals 1 with Lisa McCormick. She is fabulous and I am learning to play melodies, which I have not done much of in my past very occasional guitar playing (I just strummed basic chords). However, I am able to read music and find the tab system an unnecessary layer. At some point in future lessons will Lisa, or other instructor, move to teaching directly from the music notation on the staff rather than using tabs?

Lisa covers music notation & how to read it in Guitar Fundamentals 2.

I also have a series of tutorials on reading music in my old GF2.

Hope that helps!
