You need a software and a mic.

Cool Edit Pro 2.0 , and Cakewalk Sonar 2.0 XL are the best recording softwares I know.

A lot of money, but the companies offer stripped-down or demo versions you can try out.

I'd recommend Cakewalk Sonar and Sound Forge 6.

Cakewalk GuitarTracks is pretty good, its kind of analog style (easy to use), and i recommend it very much.

well, you can buy it at musiciansfriend for around 70 bucks, i think. they have a trial version at cakewalk.com, for 30 days, i'd try it first. its insanely easy to use!

hence i said to delete it after you use it...but i really meant that u can most happily download the TRIAL verison on kazaa, (it was a typo) as it is true that ILLEGAL SOFTWARE IS WRONG! ... but unfortunity it still happens...will this world ever learn of its wrong ways!
WWSD? What would stevie do?

hey, ummm what kinda mic would you need for recording guitar? my friend said he has an instrument mic so i'm guessing you don't use a voice mic for it. what kinda mics do you recommend like typewise? looking for around $100

for computer?

I use the normal computer mic, works fine if you put it in the right place.
