I've noticed that the lessons are mostly about truly obscure songs lately or there not actually guitar based songs.I've requested a few songs in the past. I think one of my requests was answered, a lesson taught by Mike ( ELP : From the Beginning ) much appreciated. I check back everyday hoping to find a new popular well known song to learn, but not much to choose from. I know the process of getting approval to teach a song takes time... but really... some of the resent songs are...well not really interesting to learn. I've checked the library, a lot of guitar music, and it's good, a lot of challenging music, but why so many uninteresting songs lately? Yeah I know, these songs are not uninteresting to the person requesting it,but you can't tell me it's a joy to teach these songs. I think it's a business thing to satisfy the newbies... I get it. Maybe it's getting harder or even impossible to get the approval to great songs. Here's what I wish Guitar Tricks would do. Give an update on songs that you will never be able to give lessons on,so people like myself can stop hoping and asking over and over again, thinking that some day, that song will be taught. BTW, I truly love Guitar Tricks, hope you don't feel insulted, but you know what I'm talking about ... Right? Just sharing my honest feelings and observation. I hope this doesn't come across as though my taste in music is better than the next person, but you have got to agree that some requests are just to keep memberships. I will continue to re-up my membership just because, I love my guitar. I put in a request for ( Land Slide by Stevie Nicks) still waiting. I've been learning it on Guitar Tab the app and also on Songsterr, but I want to learn it from you guys. Is there a problem getting the rights to teach it. If I was told we can't get it , I'd be fine with that, just need to know if this sound or even other songs that I've requested are even possible to acquire. A simple no we can't get that song...sorry, would be fine.

I agree. I'm not sure the song request function works. It's more of a placebo. Let us think we can get the songs we want, and that should keep us happy. Take the most recent addition, Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles - who on Guitar Tricks requested that? Shameful admission, I actually love that song, but it would never, ever cross my mind to request it. Maybe on Piano Tricks, but not GT. Even more odd is that there is an actual guitar part in the song that isn't covered in the GT version, which would have made it much more interesting. Anyway, I digress....

I fully understand that my musical tastes aren't what would drive business to the site, but there have been some very strange and very bland songs added recently. Come renewal time it might make me think twice, but I'll probably stick around and SMH whenever I see the latest addition and wonder why The Darkness still aren't represented on this site 😁

Although the search engine here is erratic in accessing forum archival material, if you've been here a while and reading this forum regularly kossjanorze (? ...only 3 posts but I note your annotated join date), you'll be aware this topic has been done to death over the years.

I've touched upon the subject myself a couple of times with polite inquiry reinforced by critical observation and subsequent justifiably ascerbic comment were warranted at the charade the song request protocol is.

Regardless the token PR spokesperson smokescreen response if pursued long enough with sufficient thread activity generated if the tactic of initially leaving the thread to be buried fails, applying logic and Ockham's Razor along with a healthy dose of scepticism irreversibly present in those erudite in the ways of the world & business practices generally, leads anyone with sufficient synapse activity to reasonably deduce that conclusion.

With that said, my realisation was and is that Guitar Tricks is what it is. A very affordable structured learning site to develop Core guitar skills and knowledge. It's good at that and represents value regardless.

My solution has been to begrudgingly accept the good with the bad all too apparent reality, and armed with that awareness pragmatically seek out and use other sites serving my overall objectives conjunctively with Guitar Tricks, some 'free', some paid.

I still 'love' Guitar Tricks, and consider my full access sub here an essential tool. I am here using it almost every day life permits as my posting history would suggest. And giving a plug where deserved, Christopher Schlegel's love of sharing his obvious passion apparent in his outstanding tuition and committment to students here is a significant reason why I doubt my GT sub will voluntarily lapse in my foreseeable lifetime.

With that said, one does what one must to accomplish the objective. Ultimately all that really matters whether with Guitar Tricks or oneself is acta non verba.

'110%' committment. Whatever it takes.
