Hi Mike

Is this the distortion pedal used for playing In bloom?

Hey Mike --- this pedal does indeed sound very similar to the ProCo Rat distortion pedal that I mentioned in the tutorial for In Bloom. Kurt Cobain is also said to have used a Boss DS-1 on this record as well. So any of these pedals should get you close to the sound.

Hope this helps!

Hi mike! me again

Mike, I'm trying to practice the solo from In bloom... but man I wish you could expand a little more on the demonstrations. Is there any possiblity you can explain the solo with a few more demonstrations, I feel the video is a little short on on that and I wish to learn how to play that solo!!

Can you please record the explanation again and expand a little bit more! PLease

Hi Mike - sorry you're having some trouble with this. Unfortunately, since there is an extensive production process for every video lesson, we won't be able to re-film this one.

Here are a few things that I think can help you:

1) Be sure to focus on each phrase one at a time. Spend time going back and working on one phrase for awhile to try and get it under your fingers. Also, be sure to play the licks slowly at first, making sure you are playing them correctly.

2) Use the loop functions and speed buttons on the video. These are valuable tools to loop sections of the video, and slow them down when needed.

3) Don't attempt to play the entire solo until you've spend lots of time practicing each phrase on their own, slowly and correctly. Then work on stitching each phrase together. I recommend looping the performance video at the solo section, then slowing down to 50% at first, and work your way up to 75%, then 90%, and finally full tempo.

Hope this helps - let me know how it goes!
