Do you think thicker strings on the treble end would help?
How heavy can you go without hurting your neck?

I think I know a way to solve it with the compression, but it would be the 'audio-geek' way, lol. ;)

Heavier strings will probably help. They give more intense sound, tone and sustain(imho). I'm pretty sure you could go up to 012 or even 013, as long as you adjust the truss rod when you change gauges.
