That song is really alot of fun to play, every time you come out with a new song I learn more new skills or reinforce my current limited skills such as hammer ons, triads, pull offs, etc. how long does it take you to put together a lesson like that?

Hi Keith! It's awesome to hear you are getting so much out of these lessons!!

I've been learning songs for decades now, so all that experience definitely helps. Usually it takes 3 or 4 focused learning/practice sessions where I work to transcribe the parts accurately and get them under my fingers. From there, it moves into more general practice sessions, where I perform the song several times to really burn it in - in the days leading up to the filming of the lesson.

As you can imagine, some songs are easier and others much more challenging, so the number of practice sessions will reflect the difficulty of the song.

And then of course there's figuring out how to structure the tutorial, writing the script, etc all of which contribute to the prep time.

Hope this answers your question!

Cheers!

Sort of cracks me up because certain artists such as the Beatles (Help!) to John Sebastian (Wecome Back Kotter....just for example) constructed clasic tunes from nothing in mere minutes.........even with complicated changes and chorus sections and riffs plus vocal nuances....and yet we spend hours if not days figuring these arrangements out!! Haha indeed this is true - but let's not forget the 10,000 hours of learning how to be a musician and the craft of songwriting that came before!!!

Cheers!

Wow Mike, that is alot of work to put together a lesson, your hard work and dedicated effort definetly shows when you put the lesson out there for us to learn. Every day I look at the new song list in anticipation of what youre going to come out with next, and then when a song comes out that I want to learn I get all excited and tell my wife, "hey Mikes got another awesome new song" and she says "I thought you were going to keep working on your current list until you play them perfect before you learn another one!" Then I usually reply back, "yeah but this one looks super fun and challenging so I just have to learn it", so Mike you have become a household name in our family, thanks again for your hard work! Do you work out of the Chicago office? I should stop by sometime and say Hi.

Nashville, thats cool, we are die hard Predators fans Mike, how about you? The Preds farm team is here in Milwaukee and we see alot of the young players make it up to the nhl thru here.

Keith, that's awesome!!! Yes I'm a big Preds fan as well - and I still have soft-spots for all the teams in the cities I previously called home - Kings, Canucks, and Flames!! Growing up in Canada, you can imagine that hockey is just in the blood haha!

Well lets hope they can destroy the Blackhawks tonight and get back to winning so we can make the playoffs, we have good friends that live in Calgary and they are giant Flames fans so we root for them as well,
