I'm new to the guitar and noticed my fingers can't press on the the 3 strings for the C major without touching other strings. Any pro tips would be appreciated on how to practice this cord. Thank you
C major cord
Hey Joe,
yeah, the standard answer is practice, practice, practice, eventually you will find your method. It's kinda boring practicing one chord shape over and over but that's what it is I'm afraid. Maybe 5 mins per day on the C then move on to other shapes.
try to incorporate finding and playing other CM chord shapes over the neck so you learn while you burn and don't get bored. Boredom is the killer so keep it interesting for yourself..
That's probably what you already know but hope it helps ya brother..
Slaxsixx,
Thank you for the tip. Never in my mind that at 44 years old I would have thought I could learn guitar. I spend about 30-45 min a day of practicing so I will make sure I spend at least 5 minutes a day to keep working on the C cord. [br][br]

I had the same thing, couldn't get a clean Cmaj. But with practice it improved, suddenly I realised that it was a good clear tone. And just to note, I have short and reasonably fat fingers so it can be done.

Make sure your fingers are curled sufficiently so that you use the very tips of your fingers. Cut your nails very short on your fretting hand.
Oh yes. Practice. You will get there.
