Hi Everyone just picked up my guitar again after 2 years of just looking at it , i only did utube videos but this time around i wanted to learn to do things right was alittle frustrated at first but seems to be coming around !!! got about 80 percent with Lisa , and felt great about it , i was crushing the strings and my fingers were killing after the second verse , holding down the AM chord lol , doing much better now , i hope by the summer i can sit outside in the backyard and play some cool tunes,

Hey There everyone, thanks for the nice hi , i decided to start at the beginning i am presently doing the 5 chords section, C, D G Am E finding i am getting better at the change but it all falls apart when i play with the band and the singing , is this normal ? any tips ?

also there is so much here should i be branching out , i am getting emails about pentantonic scales and other music lessons or should just stay one class , any tips would be helpful

thanks

Keat

Hi Keat

I made this last summer as I felt we beginners needed to understand that struggling with the guitar is something we all face and that persistence is everything.

Good luck and keep at it!

Hi Keat, playing with the beat only improves if you learn to count out loud , don't be shy just do it like a kid has to learn to count in school. This helps to concentrate on the beat more then on the singing ( with other words; it helps you in not getting distracted so much )

About branching out; don't put more on your plate then you can eat or learn to crawl before you can walk. You can not be a lead player without knowing chords and the theory behind it all.

Regards from an old player with lots of experience

Herman

Hi Keat!

Use a metronme when practicing. It will help greatly with rythm and keeping the beat,

Keep working!

It sounds like your fingers just need to get more comfortable with positioning. Fret buzz was very common for me. It's pretty good now, even with one of my narrow necked guitars.

Try making the chords clean, keep repeating and work up to tempo. It should come together. Takes time
