Hello, Just joined the forum the other day and I am i mpressed with it. So much so that another friend of mine has decided to join also after hereing me talk about it.

I'm 56 and have messed with guitar on and off for years. sometimes not touching one for years.

Anyway I went in a music store one day and a 120th Anniversary Washburn Acoustic winked at me and I took it home.

I played and sang regularly with a group of outstanding musicians for a few years , but I never seemed to get past the cowboy chords and the simpler stuff.Just stuck in the same rut so to speak. I could never seem to have that breakthrough moment when the fretboard made sense. I cannot read music and barely read tabs. I told the Mrs. that something had to change. I needed help and direction and helter skelter youtube videos were not the answer. I found GT on youtube ironically but it seemed different and with a solid direction and solid plan to get better. So here I am.

I play a 2000 Model Gibson Les Paul Standard and also a 2018.

I'm excited about playing again and I am working through Rock level one with Anders. He is a great teacher .

With Anders style and easy going confidence with teaching and playing it has re- energized me to want to improve and not just be setting on a stool playing G-C-D progressions all the time.

Anyway I'm excited to be a member here and using the site to its full potential . Which I think is basically unlimited.

Happy pickin', Karl

Welcome Karl

I hate it when guitars wink at me :)

I think you will find many here who have the same affliction.

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

Welcome Karl. Glad you're here.

I'm 61 and I am just learning how to play.

It's been a long time dream that I have finally

taken hold of.

GT is a great place to learn!

Again Welcome!

Dave

Hi, I'm 64 and never picked up a guitar until 8 weeks ago, joined Guitartricks almost 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Lisa you are an incredible teacher, I'm currently working on the "Chord-Change Strategies for the 5-Chord Power Pack" and was wondering if there is a way to slow down either the video or jam track while playing along with the songs. Looking forward to learning and playing guitar in the next several months/years!!

Hi just joined myself around the same time as you did. I wondered that myself and I discovered that on the sides of the screen either left or right you will see red squares with numbers in them. By default 1.0x is highlighted. If you click on any of the ones below that it will slow down the video. Go above and it speeds it up. You can do it on all the segments of the lesson including the jam play. I go all the way to .5x when im trying to learn something new. Sounds kinda funny when they talk, but it helps immensly.

Good Luck,

Moe

Got a great new product to help stop electric guitars from slipping around when practicing in the seated position. The product works so well none of my electric guitars in my practice area have guitar staps anymore. ... just using the new product called a Guitar Sheath. The Guitar Sheath takes the weight off the shoulders and offers up much more control over my axe. Well worth your time to check out whether you are a beginner or experienced. See website called GuitarSheath.com

Check it out folks !

Cheers
