Hi all,

I'm completely new to the site and in at the deep end with a one year sub. I've been happy with my progress over the last 6 months of learning and can handle basic songs, got my C pentatonic down and trying to get better with CAGED and adding complexity to the pentatonics as well as grasping the theory on 7th chords recently.[br][br]

I was looking to learn the blues but where to start? I've started to try and learn Claptons Tears In Heaven from YouTube but there doesn't seem to be a lesson for it on here. I see Sweet Home Chicago so maybe I'll start there. I guess the point is that I would like to get off on the right path. Should I park the songs for now and focus on techniques etc? I'm good for motivation so I don't mind waiting to do the songs later if that's a better path. Any pointers much appreciated![br][br]

Cheers

K

Ahoy matey!

You might want to try the Blues Lessons. You can also do a song search. BB King has a selection, and there must be some others, but since I don't really listen to blues (although enjoy learning it on guitar) I don't know many names.

Good luck.

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

Depending on your current skill level I encourage you to look at the Blues course & the song catalog.

Have a look at this page showing the guided curriculum paths.

I encourage you jump in at Blues 1!

If that's too much or it seems like you are missing skills or knowledge, then go back to Guitar Fundamentals 2 for a quick review.

There are also a lot of other specialized tutorials on blues, so if there's something you are curious about or want to learn more in depth, then just ask!

And of course, have a look at the GT song catalog. There are plenty of blues tunes at all skill levels. And if something is currently beyond you level, the great thing about blues is you can just strum along with the basic chord progression until you can get the licks!

So, work through a course! Find some interesting stuff to learn & practice! And learn songs! Have fun & best of success!
