Rock, pop, blues, jazz used to be new art forms and there was a lot of creative contributions by guitarists, and energy. I'm wondering, as a nearly 60 year old guy now, if there are new areas of music that young people are going into and finding creative fullfillment. Hip hop etc doesn't seem all that guitar-centric but I'm not an avid listener so don't feel confident in that assessment. I believe that one guy I have long admired (Steve Hillage) has kept his creative juices flowing by moving into electronica//dance music and at least from the standpoint of a guitarist, has contributed to that form. Maybe movie scores are a thing. I guess I'm wondering if there are any musical art forms, genres, occupations, etc. that are rewarding musical creativity, especially as it relates to guitar. I grew up on, and still love blues and rock and so on but feel that the evolution of those genres has kind of slowed to a crawl.
