Hi. Me too I'm a new kid on this block.[br]I have two classic guitars: the beach ax is Teresa, about 40 years old, a nice Japanese imitation of a Spanish model and La Carla a true hot blood chica española.
Not really my thing. I have given one electric I own & play a nickname though. A complimentary term of endearment and respect, my ETL-100 is usually referred to by me as the "Aldicaster" to my wife or anyone who enquires as to its provenance, usually much to their amazement.
Sorta tried to but I have a few guitars and hard to remember. Naming is just for fun between me and my wife. My black Fender acoustic was named 'Cash' by my wife in honor of Johnny Cash. After that, any names given are long lost.
If I gave them names, I'd give them non-music oriented names like Bob and Phil. Any pets I've had get names that way too, like Frank and Florence. Exception is the cat we have now, 3P. Yes, a play on C3PO. My wife is rather fond of Star Wars and we rescued 3P with only 3 legs (3P = 3 Paws). Doesn't slow her down much. Cornering ain't great but otherwise.....

The cat rescue story brought me a smile JeffS65. Gone to a better place now, we had a brain damaged rescue who came to us at a deceptively small 6 months old who stayed with us for 17 years I named "Sandra Dee" shortly after we got her.
I have a 50-year old Framus (Texas model, I think) I bought new in Germany for $30. It traveled with me all over the world and in my last location, before a multi-decade playing pause, it acquired the name "Darkness." Each time I picked it up I would whisper, 'Hello Darkness...' Those guitar players who know Simon and Garfunkel should understand why (still have the LP, too).

Like this ..but 6 string?
Check the moustache bridge. Different structure, ...but where have I seen that shape before.
How would you describe its tone John? Is it still playable/do you still play it?

"It takes a lot of devotion and work, or maybe I should say play, because if you love it, that's what it amounts to. I haven't found any shortcuts, and I've been looking for a long time."

When I was a teen, my best friend and I name out guitars as a goof. I have long forgotton what I called it.
My kids named some of my guitars. I have an LP with a nice flame top that my son calls "Tiger" because they kinda look like tiger strips. My PRS CE24 has a similar looking top, so that one has been dubbed "Tiger 2.0". Other than that, it's "my strat, my black LP, my tele", etc. Boring for sure! :)
Wow, thank you all for the replies!! I still have not named mine... I am just slooooowly going through Lisa's beginner lessons, but I am totally enjoying everything about the guitar, and this site. I found all of your replies entertaining and enspiring.[br][br]I find that, in your replies, it is a personal and special thing you have with you and your guitar. I especially liked the reply about Darkness :D[br][br]I hope this thread grows over time!!!
