What is a 'Key'? Lesson

[br]In Lisa's lesson What is a 'Key'? @ 3:40 she mentions we learned the C Major scale in the lessons on reading tabs? Did I miss something? I don't remember learning any scales so I'm kinda lost on the Key lesson
