been playing guitar for a while but find it hard to learn songs and improvise. any suggestion?

Improvisation takes a lot of time to learn because it requires you to be able to recall scale patterns, and keys. It also requires you to have a bit of rhythmic feel, so that you're able to play within the time of the music, or your band mates.

If you're tackling full songs, then it's important to practice slowly and remember that repetition is everything.
