So for frets 1-4 I use fingers 1-4. For other frets such as 5-12, how do finger placements go when playin single notes. ?

Hi there,
This depends on your position. Think of it like a sliding component. If you're playing on the 5th fret, you would place your 1st finger on the 5th fret, 2nd finger on the 6th, 3rd finger on the 7th, etc.
General rule is to simply move the '1 finger per fret rule' to work all over the neck.
