I ended up getting a Fender Mustang v2. Yes, there is a bit of time taken to fiddle with the settings to get the sound you want, but I found that many others before me had already done a lot of this, and they have published their settings in aforum accessed through your PC. The "pre-sets" they publish there are searchable by numerous filters, for example musical genre - Blues. You just save the desired pre-set to your AMP programme and asign it to a pre-set on your actual physical amp and you've got it.

What I particularly like is that Fender sells a pretty cheap ($25?) footswitch that can select between two pre-sets. So if you want a certain sound for parts of a song, but need a different sound for other parts you just stomp on the foot-switch. It's not perfect in that you only get to select between two pre-sets, but it has worked well for me!!

Good luck in your amp hunt!!
