I always wanted to learn how to play the guitar so here I am in my 50's just starting out. So far, I am really enjoying it, but frustrated trying to play the simple C. My index finger just doesn't seem to do what I want it to do and is always hitting the e string. I am sure it will come with time but frustrating none the less.

Hi! 😃

Believe it or not, you'll get to enjoy that "frustration". Which is a good thing, because it'll be there in varying degree with everything new you attempt on guitar. Another word for it is challenge. Time will illustrate that every time, you'll rise to it, and the satisfaction when you nail that chord, scale, riff, lick is an unbelievably rewarding high IME.

Cheers..and welcome! 🙋‍♂️

Thank you! I just keep at it knowing I'll get there.

Greetings from Southern Nevada to Northern Nevada!

I'm also in my 50s and while a played a bit in my youth I've decided I am putting in the time and going to work on playing well. I just joined the site a couple weeks back and I'm really enjoying it.

Hang in there on the frustrations. I agree with manXcat, they will always be there and you will work through them. Repetition is a wonderful thing.
