Yes you can.
Though guitar stuck for me when I was about (late) 16 or (early) 17 (I'm 53 now), I tried several times from 12 on. It was the time it stuck before my Senior year and I've been playing ever since. Anyway, doesn't matter when it sticks, it matters that you're in to it now. Which is pretty great.
