talking to a musician the other day, and he was adamant that a vital part of learning guitar, or indeed any instrument, is the need to learn and be able to read sheet music. I see the GT does have tutorials available, so as I am just into the first part of fundamentals one, when is the suggested time to start on this area please. Thanks.

Reading music notation is absolutely an invaluable part of learning guitar (or any musical instrument). It's covered in Chapter 7 of GF2.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Christopher,

So basically do not worry about it, until that chapter, is that right?

Yep, that's the right idea. :) When you first start learning you've got more than enough to do just trying to gain the physical skills required to play. So, after you've gained the basic skills required to play some music, then it's time to apply the conceptual side of leaning (theory of chords, scales, reading).

In general, our courses are designed to give you the right balance & amount of theory (conceptual) versus practice (technique), at the right time & in the right order.

I'm sorry for not being clear about that in my first reply! :) Hope that helps. Have fun!
