I have an Epiphone SG and I am thinking of upgradeing my pickups in the near future. Can anyone recommend a brand or model that sounds real nice on distortion but doesn't suck while Im playing clean?
Thanx!

I'd check out the Seymour Duncan JB model.

Can you give me some examples of guitars that have those pickups? I want to see what they sound like.
Thanx again.

Hey Josh, You can get all the specs, download a "clean&dirty" MP3, and find a listing of SD JB artists at

http://www.seymourduncan.com

the JB has been around awhile and you probably heard it on hundreds of recordings, the list of people who have used it is probably as long as your leg..........

Cool. Thanx. I have used a Fender Strat with Seymour Duncan pickups. Its didn't do it for me on distortion but it rocked clean. I dont know what model they were, so I'll check out that link.

Fenders Strats are epuiped with single coils(most of the time), hence them not sounding so powerful.

This was not an original pickup. It was one of those humbuckers thats the size of a single coil. Anyways I would have to look at a lot of different pickups before I make a dicision.

Okidoki, nevermind my last post then. ;)

Anyway, the reason I suggest the JB is cause most players use it beccause it's a perfect balance between clean and dirty.

Depends on what model, like every other brand.
I play with a DiMarzio Evolution myself, has nice cleans and nice distortion. Does the trick for me.

I'll look at them too. I plan to take a trip to the music store and ask around, try different guitars with different pickups, get an idea of the sound I want.
