An Epiphone Les Paul ranges from $150 to $1000 , but if you can afford $1000 , then go for a used Gibson...
Also I don't recomend a $150 guitar, bec cheap guitar = cheap tone + cheap playability..
Go for a guitar around $500.

aint nothing wrong with a squire if you rip out the junkard pickups and replace them with fender laced sensors(or the almighty EMG for that matter)....it rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

Buying a cheap guitar copy, like squiers strat copies is like gambling, you may get a nice one, or one that su*ks, specialy if it's too cheap...
that's why you have to try them very well before you buy, check the finishes, the tone, the playability, etc.
my advice , never buy those guitars online !

Here's a tongue in cheek site about a very good Gibson Les Paul Standard reproduction guitar - The Tokai Les Paul and the good value for money they offer.
