What lesson are you working on? When it's relevant (usually on song tutorials), the tuning & key is mentioned in the introduction lesson.

On some older lessons it's part of the gear & tone lesson (lesson 2). In either case if you have to retune in order to learn a song or do a lesson, then it's just part of the territory of guitar playing.

That's an interesting idea! You should suggest that to GT support. I'm not sure there are enough songs or tutorials with alternate tunings to warrant adding that feature. But it could be worth mentioning.
