Im new so sorry if this isnt the right forum. but i was just curious what was the main factor in everyone started playing?

For me personally it was a combination of me seeing Ben Harper live and me wanting to be able to play your body is a wonderland to my gf.How about everyone else?

lol... I think I'd stick around with my fiancee if she played that to me!

I started playing 'cause I was bored and wanted something to do. A few friends from work play guitar, so I figured it'd be fun to try!! (It helped that I'm musically inclined, though certainly not a professional, and have sung and learned basic music theory).

I come from a family of musicians..so I was always surrounded by music. But what really did it for me was hearing Crazy Train for the first time.

LONG LIVE RANDY RHOADS!
I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

I started playing after hearing classic rock bands like Pink Floyd and Zep. After listening to songs like Another Brick in the Wall, Comfortably Numb, and Stairway to Heaven I got hooked on music, and decided that it would be cool to be able to play all those songs.

I used to listen to my brother play when I was little. John Mayer is awesome.

I´ve started playn´ actually when I was 9 but 1 month after fu*cked it. I was takin´ lessons than in classical music (2 times week) wich where like half hour and than 45 min. of some crazy teory. I think that it was just too much for a 9 year old stupid kid. Guess if I regret it now. Man, I could be a *****in´ virtouso by now but who gives a ****.

My second start came when i turned 15. I was lot in Aerosmith type of music and actually wanted to start playn´ drums but my parents told me forget it. If you want to play somthing than choose between guitar again and acordian!?

So I choosed guitar again and loved it ever since.

I guess I started playin since i was 10 cuz I realized I hate work, and didnt want to have to do a real job. Plus i had been studyin violin since i was 5, and I hated it with a passion. Also- I realized it would be a helluva lot easier to get the ladys if I played guitar. Since then, I switched from violin to cello, but the whole ladys aspect still hasnt seemed to have kicked in. Oh well, maybe in college...
