All right heres my situation,
I scraped all my money together and bought a janky guitar, so now im dead broke, no money for lessons! What is the best option for someone who has never touched a guitar before?any suggestions like a website to go to,or a video to order,Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Find a friend who plays guitar. Mooch off him for a while . . . until you can get enough cash for lessons. There's really no substitute for lessons.

lessons help motivate and give direction to your practicing.

I'm a bare-beginner, but I was able to learn a lot online in these forums and various web sites. Start at the last page of the beginner forum and work your way to the front - you'll get lots of tips and web pages!

Additionally, there are forums here specifically for web pages and Guitar Tab... the same method worked great on these for me!

And if none of those work, then hit someone with a partially frozen fish. Maybe he'll say, "hey, why did you do that?" and you can say, "because I need to learn how to play guitar," and then he'll say, "oh well why didn't you say so," and then he'll give you free lessons. But that might not work, so I don't know if you should try it. You might get shot.
Rock and roll ain't noise pollution, but it can get pretty crappy these days.

Dude!! That's exactly how I started my lessons. Except for the frozen fish part.

... And the hitting him on the head part too.

Oh well, it was nothing like your method I guess!

... it was a frozen Herring, by the way... a frozen Tuna might not work well as there wouldn't be much left of the guitar instructor.

I think learning tab would be the best step to take...From there a whole new world will open up ..or did for me anyway...I will point out...This site..IMHO I think is a great start, the more I look around in here...Yup learn tab then check out everything and anything....That and play and replay it with the music when possible :)

chordfind.com learn a whole buch of chords keep doing it untill you can move between the chords with some ease practice rythem then learn some scales and practice them lessons don't really help unless you can do what the instructer is asking of you but that is only my opinion oh yeah and to have friends that play and mooch knowledge off them is also a great Idea

http://www.mxtabs.net has a pretty good lesson section. I wouldn't use a frozen fish, but rather a frozen bag of vegetables, such as peas.

website are great, and learning from say some book, that has a cover saying 'guitar for dummies' is good too but everyonce and a while your gonna get stuck or frustrated and need some direction so find a freind or a someone for lessons. The best advice other wise is practice, practice and practice, there are no short cuts....well no big short cuts for that matter.

p.s. here a good web site so start from there though i believe there better out there
