Fender Lace Sensor Gold has extra wire

I recently installed a Fender Lace Sensor Gold into my Squire Affinity Strat. The old pickup and the pickup instructions with the Lace Sensor both have two wires but the actual Fender Lace Sensor Gold has three. What's up with that?

The extra wire should be another earth,if you've got orange, green, white then the green and white go to earth at back of pot.
Accuracy,you say? hmm interesting concept..

Kris - pot= potentiometer= what's under your volume and tone controls.
Have a look at the "Capacitor for tone pot on bass" thread that shows a picture of the back of the pots and is a wiring diagram for a standard strat.

Are you saying that the extra wire is a ground and it must be placed exactly where the other ground is?

But I was wondering. Why are there two grounds? And why the other pickups have only two wires?
