I am in the market for a delay pedal, and was going to default to the one which I have the most experience with, the DD-3. This is the 0-800 ms edition, without external footswtich capabilities.

But I thought I should consult with the community here to see whether there might be better pedals out there that I should try first.

Basically, I use the delay for (1) to enhance feedback, (2) to sustain swelled-in notes, (3) to produce an Edge-like sound, and (4) (less frequently) slapback delay.

Any suggestions?
... and that's all I have to say about that.

I used to have the Boss DD5, it was cool ! I had the DD3 but it got nicked. I think the DD5 gives you more modes and a longer delay time though the real reason I got it was it had a 5 instead of a 3 so I presumed it had more whistles and bell and flashing lights (clever hu !). I think they are both nice pedals.

Are there any other companies out there that make decent or better delay pedals than Boss?

I think Edge uses a Memory Man something or other, Electro Harmonix, I believe, but I would assume that that's out of my budget.

I use an old Boss DE-200 rack-mount. There's been better stuff released since, (Alesis, yumm!), but hey, it works well.
