I need a little help with muting. I can palm mute heavy riffs, but thats not what i have trouble with ... its actually when i play fast leads like yngwie's lead in far beyond the sun or the solo for mr.crowly (ozzy osbourne) i get all this background noise. Also when i hammer off to an open string very fast the string keeps ringing. 2) Also when i tap from one string to another the last string i was playing on would keep ringing. How can i get rid of this without buying any new gear? I heard i can pull it off just by muting with both hands(??).

Electric guitars are sensitive to any string vibration. With high gain, this becomes a big issue. You have to clean up your technique. A new guitar will have the same problem, because you are causing it. You have to provide for muting the strings you are not playing , as well as fretting the one(s) you want to hear. Its a whole new level above what you can get away with on an acoustic.

As they say... practice, practice, practice...

Well a friend of mine gave me his ibanez RG 550 after he bought his Les Paul and i bought a cheap second hand Fender Amp. I know Fenders aren't good for metal but for $25 i got a pretty big amp (50cm high) which comes with 4 presets.
Though it only sounds good with a clean sound the overdrive preset is ok, nothing outstandingly fancy.

The Ibanez has V7 and V8 pickups. I'm not sure if they were added later on as my friend said he droped his guitar once and the fibreglass pick-guard shattered and he stuck a new one on and did all the rewiring himself. But its pretty good for a free guitar.

Yeah it fell man, but that doesn't mean its full of ****. Stop spreading BS on this board man its a good guitar but it doesn't cut it like a LES PAUL. See the difference between the two is you have a piece of wood for an Ibanez and an amazing guitar for a LP.
wait what was i gonna say again........oh yeah

The pickups came with the guitar!
real tyte bro \m/
