I got too many bad cables and not enough heart to throw them away...

What brand of cable do you use and why? Is there different categories of cables like network cables?

Did you ever experience noises coming from cables?

I'm recording a lot on the computer and try to minimise as much as possible noises.

Any tech advices, or experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

Im using Monster cables, mostly monster 100s / 500s and they are cool, expensive but cool !

Fender Electro-volt, Whirlwind and Fender California cables are also OK as instrument cables and for hooking up bits of line level rack kit.

I think Monster's web site covers the different grades of cable however with the kit I have I cant tell the difference between the bottom, mid and top range of there cables (other than the price !).

I know that cheaper cables will affect your tone (as there is top-end role off) as well as possibly crackling during movement ( I suspect this is due to a lack of shielding in unbalanced cable)which can be a real pain.

Do yourself a favor and throw away those bad chords. I throw them away at the first sign of trouble.

i use Planet Waves 20ft cable, butim not really playing live gigs on a regular basis, or at all for that matter. But the sound is very clear, and they have a lifetime guarantee.

Go with da monsters, can't beat 'em especially if you have the money to get them, i still haven't had problems with mine and their going on over a year now (new record for me) so i recommend them if you have the cash.
