Greetings from Australia! my name is Gilbert im 34 years old and I'm here because I've always wanted to learn Guitar but never really felt that I had the "gift" or ability.

Ive always loved the sound of acoustics, I was brought up around gospel music so there was always someone playing a guitar. I'm super keen to learn and really look forward to the day when I can play in front of family and friends.

A week ago I put my money where my mouth is and brought my first ever instrument the yamaha fg820. after a week of practicing every night, I can barely string two chords together and thats why I'm here because im not going to throw in the towel nope, I'm determined.

I look forward to the guidance and help from all!

thanks!

Hi Gilbert0, and welcome to GT!

You've come to a great place to progress for those prepared to work toward it.

As an analogy, learning guitar reminds me of teaching people to fly. Most have some ability in varying degrees of aptitude. Very very few are "naturals", and only an extremely rare few are "gifted" (prodigies).

Yamaha's FG820 is a sweet sounding unit to kick off with. Not a dreadnought fan for their awkward physical fit for me, but the FG820's tones are right up there! Like most guitars from Yamaha, it punches well above its price point weight.

Absolutely first rate instructors here. If you get as much from your time here as I do, you'll be surprising yourself within the month.

Cheers.

Yay - you have come to the right place for your goal and dream of being able to play for family and friends to come true. Everything we teach here is very student-centered, because WE want that exact same goal for you too!

Have fun, take all the time you need to really nail down the basics, and then you’ll be flying.

- Lisa

Hello Gilbert! Nice to meet you.

I'm a new member too. That determination sounds fiery; keep it up! I hope you overcome this obstacle and delve into deeper layers of playing and musical wonder.

Have you got through the blisters yet?
