Firstly, thank you all staff for such a great website! I have learnt a lot over the last 5 months here!

This is from the lesson on guitar tricks with their backing track and I did a little improv solo ;)

Very nice. Great timing. Particularly on a song that has such a persistent rhythm. Solid little bit of improv on the solo. If any tip I have, start listening to classic rock blues based solos. I've said a few times on these here boards that so much of what you hear in rock are bluesy themes, or a language of sorts. If you listen to Skynyrd's Freebird epic solo, though it seems like so much playing, it's really groups of blues lick themes.

I mention this because, if you started from a more beginner spot months ago, you've done really, really good. Kudo's! As you start forging your playing with leads, one of the key things to know is blues lick themes in solos. Once you notice it, you start hearing all the time. Kind of a big a-ha.

Nice progress for 5 months in!

I saw the thread title and thought of "Dead Moon Rising" by Sentenced. A good song.

Nicely done! As somebody else pointed out, the persistent rhythm guitar part like on this is difficult to keep consistent and you did...very smoothly played! Nice solo also, especially when you consider you are 5 months in.

Keep at it!

I'm sorry but I can't figure out the strumming pattern for D chord in intro and verse. Is it D-D-DUD-, or D-D--UD-. And plse wipe that smug expression off your face. You were a newbie once :-)

Sorry I missed this earlier! The intro is D - D - DUD.

If you slow the performance clip down at the beginning of the lesson you can see it a bit more clearly.

Hope this helps!

I am so jealous! You play like you've been playing for years! I can get through the song at about half speed lol.

Loved to listen to your song. Well made.

Maybe you add a Limiter and Clipper to push the volume a bit?

I need more time!
