Hi all, I have just finished gf1, and am completely satisfied with the lessons, and I believe they have taught me lots more than anything else would've. When I was in the middle of gf1, I started to also learn some YouTube tutorials of how to play new songs such as Ed Sheeran. So, right now, I am not sure if I should continue to gf2 and stop learning other ways, or if I should continue doing both. Basically, my question is will learning on other from things other than the guitar tricks course distort my guitar learning? Thanks for any answers.

Can't see why learning from multiple sources should be an issue. I would continue with GT gf2 because, no matter what other sources you use you know the GT gf2 will be giving you the correct techniques etc.

I have used videos of original artists as well as some free tutorial youtube stuff where there is a song I like, but GT doesn't cover it. But I will still continue to use GT as my main source of lessons and songs because they are the best in my opinion.

The only time this might be a problem would be if there appears to be conflicting information (maybe the key of a song, techniques being demonstrated etc) in which case I would default to GT.

I can't see a problem at all.

Hi Evan,

Using other materials outside of GT is a pretty smart way to go about it. Obviously we don't have song lessons for every artist under the sun, but I believe that if you want to learn skills, and techniques not specific to any one song, the Core Learning System is still the best place to do that.

If you ever feel lost, or like you've hit a plateau, you should challenge yourself and tackle a song that's a bit more difficult than you're used to, to kind of jump start your learning.

Best,

Billy
