I don’t know if this is the correct forum for this bu I’ll give it a shot.

I’ve only been at this guitar thing for a week, but I’m having major pain in my index finger when trying to play the simple C chord. It feels like it’s going to slice the finger tip off. Yes a bit of exaggeration but close. My question is will it ever get bette?

I feel like I’m being impatient, am I?

Thanks,

Richard

Mate, I'v only been playing for almost 4 weeks now & have developed callouses on the tips of 3 fingers. Less pain now, but can still hurt if you overdo it. It gets better.

Yes you will. Definately. It takes time. Some days, to go easy, spend less time on open chords where you have to fret the cheesecutter strings and work on barre chords for instance.

They will get better. After a while the callouses get such that when you tap on a table, they sound closer to fingernails than soft tips.

It takes time though.
